FAQ

  • What dog training methods do you use?
At Alpine K9 Alliance, we recognize that dogs are complex beings with unique personalities, needs, and learning styles - they cannot be reduced to a one-size-fits-all training program. As a balanced trainer, Grayson tailors his methods to the individual dog, drawing from a diverse toolkit of positive reinforcement, structure, and thoughtful correction as needed. This might involve rewarding desired behaviors with treats, praise, or play, while also gently redirecting undesirable actions through patient instruction and clear communication of boundaries. Thoughtful corrections would be verbal, or leash corrections using the least amount of pressure possible, to ensure we continue to build trust and respect. We focus on building a strong, collaborative relationship with the dog, fostering the animal's confidence and enthusiasm for training. This holistic philosophy extends beyond the training sessions themselves, as a balanced trainer he also provides guidance on enrichment, socialization, and addressing the root causes of behavioral issues. Ultimately, the goal is not simply an obedient dog, but a well-adjusted, happy companion who is a joy to interact with and who can thrive in their human's home and community. Through this thoughtful, empathetic approach, Alpine K9 Alliance unlocks the full potential of the human-canine bond.
  • Do you work with reactive dogs?
Yes, in my professional background, working with reactive dogs is something I have thrived with as it takes consistency, patience, and a calm demeanour to be able to communicate with reactive dogs effectively. In my experience, I have worked with over 200 reactive dogs, allowing me to rehabilitate and repair the canine-human bond that experiences significant challenges when the canine is reactive.
  • How long does it take to train a dog?
The duration of dog training can vary depending on factors such as the dog's age, breed, temperament, and the specific training goals. At Alpine K9 Alliance, our trainers work with each dog individually to create a customized training plan, so the time it takes to train a dog can vary. We focus on positive reinforcement and balanced methods to ensure effective and enjoyable training sessions. A philosophy that applies to both canines and humans is the 21/90 rule. 21 days to create a habit, 90 days to create a lifestyle.
